Liturgy Commission

Members of the Saint Ann Liturgy Commission meet on a regular basis to plan and coordinate the major liturgies of the liturgical year.  Other parishioners are occasionally invited to participate in the planning and execution of the liturgies.  Several parishioners have the task of writing the general intercessions for Sunday and other major celebrations.

Commission Meeting Minutes March 2010

Liturgy –

·        Bob Dangel attended the meeting to discuss the Lector Ministry.  He has been Lector Ministry leader since the late 1960’s.   The Liturgy Commission will recommend lectors for Passion Sunday and Holy Week services.

·        The role of the deacon at the Sunday Liturgy was clarified.  He is to read the Gospel and the petitions.  He will give the homily periodically, distribute communion, and purify the sacred vessels.

·        The new Roman Missal will come out late in 2010 or early 2011, upon approval from Rome.  Several changes to the texts or certain prayers and liturgical music are being made.  A workshop given by the Archdiocese on the Missal changes was attended by Laura Nickol, Diane Ferrier, John Quattrone and Tom Reichert.

·        The Liturgy Commission will set a date in April for Eucharistic and Lector Ministry training.

·        No date has been set for the annual Minister’s Evening.

·        The Thanksgiving and Christmas liturgies were reviewed.

·        Lenten and Holy Week services were planned.
