HISTORY of ST
ANN CHURCH In September pf 1953, the first annual parish festival was held. Trivia question - what was the first Grand Prize raffled off at the Festival? Answer - a cow! In December 1953, ground was broken for the new school and temporary church. St Ann School opened in September 1954. Toward the end of 1956 ground was broken for the rectory. Light colored brick was used to match the school, church and convent. A parish census in 1956 indicated the need for more church facilities as well as classrooms. Thus in August 1958 the construction of a new auditorium church and cafeteria was begin. Due to weather through the winter months, construction of the church was delayed. As a result, the new church/auditorium was dedicated on June 28, 1959 on the sixth anniversary of the first mass in the Community Hall. In 1961 ten new classrooms were added to the original school building. Monsignor Lunn retired in 1976 and Fathers Bill Dorrmann and Dave Brinkmoeller succeeded as co-pastors. The church bell was erected and dedicated to Monsignor Lunn. In 1980 Father Dorrmann celebrated his 25th anniversary and Monsignor Lunn came back to St Ann to celebrate his 50th anniversary. The Monsignor Lunn Parish Center and renovated church were also dedicated that year. Father Bill Kennedy was appointed pastor in 1987. Much to everyone's delight, air conditioning and new lights were added in the church in 1992. 1998 the new plaza was dedicated by Father Bill Kennedy. Father Bill Kennedy left as pastor of St Ann in 1999. Father Tom Dennemann took over as pastor in June 1999. New parking was completed in the fall of 1999. Everyone survived the Y2K bug and celebrated our 50th anniversary in 2003. In June 2003 the Building Campaign was completed - Goal of $1.3 million accomplished! Renovation and dedication of the new church and school completed in November 2004.
