Constitution
ARTICLE I NAME
The name of this commission shall be the Christian Outreach Commission of St. Ann Parish.
ARTICLE II PURPOSE
The purpose of the Christian Outreach Commission shall be threefold:
To reach out to the faith community of other denominations, embracing the Vatican II spirit of ecumenism. The commission shall make a particular effort for closer ties with the churches in the Groesbeck area.
To reach out to those in need no matter where they live. The commission will encourage parish support for projects and programs that will help the hungry, the poor, the oppressed and the forgotten. Such projects will include the needful in our neighborhoods, as well as those in foreign lands.
To reach out to the St. Ann Parish family with information and educational programs about social justice issues affecting those in need.
ARTICLE III MEMBERSHIP
The Christian Outreach Commission shall consist of no less than five members. New members shall be approved by Parish Council.
ARTICLE IV OFFICERS
The term of office for all officers shall be two years.
One member of the commission shall serve as chairperson and shall preside over commission meetings.
One member shall serve as secretary and will record the actions of the commission.
One member shall represent the group at Parish Council. This person shall be elected for a three-year term by the parish. An alternate will be selected by the commission and approved by Parish Council to represent the commission in the elected member’s absence. The Parish Council Representative will be responsible for monitoring and evaluation the Commission’s section of the Five-Year Development Plan and submitting annual reports as required by Parish Council.
ARTICLE V. MEETINGS
The Commission shall have monthly meetings at a time convenient to the members. One member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society shall be invited to attend meetings.
