*** Committee members are encouraged to read The Liturgy Documents, Volume One, Built of Living Stones, The General Instruction of the Roman Missal and Liturgy Made Simple. ***Committee members are to be familiar with The Parish Pastoral Council Constitution of Saint Ann. MEMBERSHIP: The Liturgy Commission shall consist of (8) and no more than (16) members. The Parish clergy, music director, and the duly elected Liturgy Commission Representative on Parish Pastoral Council shall be "ex officio" members of the Liturgy Commission. Other members shall be appointed by the Liturgy Commission and approved by PPC. It is desirable for representatives from the following ministries to be members of the Liturgy Commission. Music Ministers Each ministry is asked to have one contact person attend one meeting per year to discuss ideas and problems so as to promote a free flow of communication between the various ministries and Liturgy Commission. Liturgy Commission members may serve for three years. Members (including the Liturgy Commission Representative on PPC) may serve two consecutive three year terms. The Liturgy Commission Representative to PPC will be responsible for coordinating and reporting commission goals. An alternate for the Liturgy Commission Representative to PPC shall be nominated by the Commission and approved by PPC Any member who is unexcused from three consecutive meetings without valid reason will be automatically dismissed from the Commission. Each member is expected to attend planning meetings. COMMISSION OFFICERS: The Liturgy Commission membership shall, by a majority vote, select one among them to serve as chairperson to preside over the Commission meetings. The term of office will be a two-year period. The elected chairperson may serve two consecutive terms. When the chairperson's term expires he/she may continue to serve as regular member of the Commission. The term and re-election procedure will hold true for the secretary. Chairperson nominations will take place in May. Elections are to be held at the June meeting. The two-year term of office will begin at the next regularly scheduled meeting in September unless a special meeting is held in the summer.The same nominations procedure will hold true for the Secretary. Parish Pastoral Council will be informed of the election results. COMMITTEES: When Liturgy Commission undertakes a planning task, it has the authority to select comittees for the purpose of detail planning. Committee members need not be Commission members. Plans as drafted by the committees shall be submitted in writing and presented to the Commission for comment and approval. A standing committee shall be the Liturgical Art Committee. The task of this committee is to provide for the art and environment of the church. This committee will work with liturgy planning sub-committees. MEETINGS: Liturgy Commission meetings shall be held regularly (usually monthly September through June) on the fourth Monday at 7:30 P.M., or after evening services, and should be limited to approximately a two-hour duration. Special meetings of the Commission shall be called at the request of either the chairperson or the Pastor with at least four days notice to all members. The Chairperson, or in his/her absence the Secretary, shall preside over the meetings, and at his/her discretion will limit discussion on any single item in order to deal effectively with the entire agenda. Attendance shall be reported to PPC by the Liturgy Commission Representative on PPC. DECISION PROCESS: Matters will be decided by the Commission by consensus. If that is not possible, a majority vote will suffice. |
